Snacks are an essential part of a child’s day, providing them with the energy and nutrients they need to fuel their active lifestyles. However, it can be challenging to find snacks for kids that they really like, and ones that are both comforting and healthy.

Apple Nachos
Apple nachos are a fun and nutritious twist on the classic nacho dish.
Slice apples into thin rounds and arrange them on a plate. Drizzle natural peanut butter or almond butter over the apple slices, then sprinkle with toppings like shredded coconut, chopped nuts, and a dash of cinnamon.
The apples provide fiber and vitamins, while the nut butter offers healthy fats and protein.
Homemade Popcorn
Popcorn can be a satisfying and healthy snack when prepared without excessive amounts of butter and salt.
Air-pop plain popcorn kernels (this is our favorite microwave air popcorn popper) or pop them on the stovetop with a small amount of olive oil.
Season with spices like nutritional yeast, garlic powder, or a sprinkle of sea salt. If you like buttered popcorn, I love to toss ours in butter-flavored cooking spray, which also helps the seasoning stick!
Popcorn is a whole-grain snack that offers fiber and antioxidants.
Greek Yogurt Parfait
Greek yogurt is a protein-packed snack that can be transformed into a delicious and nutritious parfait.
Layer Greek yogurt with fresh berries or sliced fruits like bananas or peaches. Add a sprinkle of granola or crushed nuts for some crunch.
Greek yogurt provides calcium and probiotics for a healthy gut, while the fruits add vitamins and fiber.
Veggie Quesadilla
A veggie quesadilla is a flavorful way to sneak vegetables into your child’s snack time.
Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce or hummus on a whole-grain tortilla. Sprinkle grated cheese and add finely chopped vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, and zucchini. Cook in a skillet until the cheese melts and the tortilla is crispy.
This snack offers fiber, vitamins, and minerals from the vegetables, and calcium from the cheese.
Frozen Banana Pops
Frozen banana pops are a refreshing and healthy treat for kids.
Insert a popsicle stick into a peeled banana and freeze until solid. Dip the frozen banana in melted dark chocolate and sprinkle with chopped nuts or unsweetened shredded coconut.
Dark chocolate contains antioxidants, while bananas provide potassium and natural sweetness.
Baked Sweet Potato Fries
Swap traditional French fries with baked sweet potato fries for a nutritious twist.
Cut sweet potatoes into thin strips, toss them with a small amount of olive oil, and sprinkle with seasonings like paprika or garlic powder. Bake until crispy.
Sweet potatoes are rich in vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants, making them a healthier alternative to regular potatoes.
Berry Smoothie
A refreshing and nutrient-rich berry smoothie can be a great snack option for kids.
Blend a mixture of frozen berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries) with Greek yogurt, a splash of milk or a dairy-free alternative (we love Almond Milk or Oat Milk), and a drizzle of honey or a natural sweetener (this is our favorite.)
Berries are packed with antioxidants, fiber, and vitamins, while Greek yogurt offers protein and probiotics.
